This article was published the fall, before my retirement, in February 2017. The photo of me is from my 1974 high school graduation, in Detroit.I served in Peace Corps Kenya in the 1980s.These photos include my first trip to London, in 1984, basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, in 1975, one of my only baby pictures (I’m in the middle), and my Peace Corps house in Kenya.Photos include my International Librarianship class (at the University of Michigan), in 1992, the front of my Peace Corps house in Kenya, inside an old Kenyan traditional home, and being the Course Librarian (a role I created) for the African and African American Studies Department at Duke University.
