Well, … I’m in Yerevan (Armenia) after eight months of international travel and I will begin walking The French Way on July 21st, my 67th birthday! I don’t have gear! I haven’t trained! I only have 60 days left on my EU visa and I’m “just” going to go for it. I need you to Pray, light a candle, and sing some old Melanie songs, from the early 1970s! GhettoGirlTravels is walking the Camino and it’s about to go down!

I’ve been sitting around Yerevan waiting for a temporary crown. After returning from Italy and waiting for an appointment, I learned that my dentist was on vacation. After sitting around for an additional two weeks, my dentist announced there’s no need for the crown and I should just come back, in six months, for the abutment and permanent crown. This entire dental mess really got to me. Sitting around for three weeks (for nothing) was a hard pill to swallow.

What’s a Ghetto Girl to do? I immediately booked a flight to Paris and my first two hotels on the Camino! I don’t have time to train. When I left the US, I didn’t pack for a 500 mile walk across Spain. But, it feels right. Today, I purchased a hat to give me more protection from the sun. I’ll leave my North Face duffel and small under the seat suitcase with my old Peace Corps host family, until I return next November. I’ll use my small REI Co-op Flash 18 day pack and bring next to nothing.
I’ll walk the Camino, until my EU visa runs out. Wish me luck, missing front tooth and all! XOXO—GGT
Good luck, and be safe!
